Arts & Cultural Groups

We appreciate the richness that cultural organizations bring to our lives and are pleased we can support them through our work. We also recognize that these organizations face particular challenges and circumstances in their fundraising efforts. Some of the particular needs we keep in mind when working with our arts and cultural clients include:

  • Your organization, and your fundraising efforts, thrive based on your relationships with your members and subscribers. You need renewal processes and membership reporting to be clear and efficient.
  • Grant requests may play a key role in your fundraising, and you need track what applications you have due or outstanding, the likelihood, timing and amounts of each grant you might receive, and any reporting deadlines you have.
  • Prospects and donors are also connecting with your organization through the box office, ticketing booths and/or your store (onsite and online). You need to share information with those groups without tearing your hair out.

Case Studies

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

Our relationship with the Museum began seven years ago when we coordinated their conversion from FundMaster. We've most recently provided interim database administrative staffing and last year led them through a complex upgrade to RE7®. Additional collaborations have included integrating multiple auxiliary membership programs (each on their own FileMaker database) into the centralized RE system and consulting extensively on the best use of the software to support their membership, major donor, corporation and foundation giving programs.

Museum of Contemporary Art

We helped MCA staff turn an upgrade project into a great opportunity to redesign codes and processes. Tackling tough issues like the flow of checks through the organization and redundant codes, we helped create a smoother and more efficient operation. Using Heller's broad range of expertise and our collection of documentation on various topics, the MCA team worked with us to create new practices, clean codes, and train MCA staff.

San Francisco Zoological Society

The San Francisco Zoo had recently been through two successful capital campaigns, and their database showed it. They were having trouble reconciling capital campaign revenue, especially outstanding pledges. We implemented a streamlined financial code structure and recoded all capital campaign gifts. We also helped the Zoo centralize gift and membership processing, drastically simplified daily revenue processing and clarified the daily and monthly reconciliation processes. As a result of our work, staff could finally trust financial reports and gift processing was taking far less time.

Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts

Many years ago we conducted Copia's original conversion to RE6.4 and have been available on a periodic basis for special projects since then. Over the years we have: supported their upgrade from RE6.4 to RE7, helped with the interface to their accounting system, developed Crystal Reports to support their fundraising efforts and provided database administrative services through the grand opening of the museum Our projects have included extensive work on best practices for setting up fields, entering information, and retrieving query lists and reports, including such work in support of the capital campaign that funded the building of the museum.
